Cheryl was frightened when she contacted us. Her story is so familiar. Cheryl and her husband struggled to maintain jobs, keep a roof over their heads, and care for their two children. The family was barely getting by, but Cheryl did the best she could because she was a mother.
After attempting to navigate a complex social service system – Cheryl and her little family found their way to the Center of Hope doorstep. In her own words, “I felt welcome from the moment I walked in.”
The family was immediately assigned a case manager and with their help they were able to secure another job, and save some money. Having relocated from a crime ridden neighborhood, Cheryl shared that she finally feels safe, secure and loved.
The struggle to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness is real. Many families come to SVdPSP, frightened and hungry with literally nowhere else to go.
